I had worked with this client a couple of years earlier in their previous home when I took over mid-way from another designer.

I was thrilled when my client reached out to hire me to work on their new house; this time, I could start with a completely blank canvas.

The house is absolutely gorgeous and vast. It’s a beautifully updated one-level ranch-style home with vaulted ceilings and a stunning living room—The Great Room—lined with gorgeous cherry built-ins along one side, floor-to-ceiling sliding windows along the other, and a huge stone fireplace in the middle; a round dining room alcove, rimmed with windows, integrated the garden, giving it a natural feel, along with the wood, glass, and stone.

This modern and organic space was a wonderful inspiration for my work, and the rest flowed on from there.

Everything called for warm hues and cozy textures, but I also wanted to keep things simple and let the house's architecture be the wow factor. It was a perfect space to marry clean lines and bold patterns. The rugs came from Turkey and South America; pillows combined rich colors with black and white graphics, and we repurposed a stunning Turkish runner to upholster a 10’ long custom bench, which has become the eye-catching piece in the whole house.

But it was the collaboration with my client that made this project my favorite to date. She was trusting of my vision and style, and we seamlessly agreed on everything, each piece finding its place and purpose within the home; everything flowed flawlessly together, from the dining alcove at one end of the house to the primary bedroom at the other end. It was a pure joy, and I have a great sense of gratitude for such a fantastic opportunity to do my best work.
